3D Secure is a service created by international card organisations, which protects cardholders from fraud on the internet.

All cards issued by Luminor are linked to the service. The service is free of charge and adds one step to the process of using a credit card for payment in an online store.

Cardholders who want to make safe purchases online with cards issued by Luminor must be internet bank users or able to identify themselves with an ID card or Mobile ID. You can sign the internet bank agreement at all of our branches.

The MasterCard SecureCode logo is displayed in the online stores that have joined the service. All online merchants that use the services of banks operating in Estonia have joined the service by today.

If you buy something from an online store that has not joined the security system, you will not be offered the option of additional authentication.

What should I do if authentication fails?

If this happens, click the “Back to merchant” button and you will be redirected to the page where you can select a new payment method. If you have further questions, please call Luminor customer service helpline on 6 283 300 (+372 6283 300 when calling from abroad).

How do I know whether a merchant has joined the service?

You will find the MasterCard SecureCode logo on the websites of all merchants that have joined the service. All online merchants that use the services of banks operating in Estonia have joined the service by today.

What should I do if the merchant has not joined the service?

If the merchant has not joined the MC SecureCode service, then the cardholder is not asked for authentication when they buy something from the online store.
